The horticultural area in Someren/Asten also wants to become more sustainable. The heat demand in this area is enormous. In Southeast Brabant, we see several options for geothermal energy. Not only the deeper layers could offer potential, the shallower layers are also eligible. Using geothermal energy at depths of 500-1500 m offers the advantage that wells are cheaper and water can be pumped out of the earth more easily. For Brabant, we see great opportunities for the application of medium-depth geothermal energy. After the project that was realized in Zevenbergen, Someren/Asten may be the next medium-deep geothermal project.
