High turnout for Ede geothermal energy information market

More than 150 visitors attended the information market to discuss Aardwarmte Ede, the licensing process, safety, and the subsurface.

On Monday, July 6, the Mauritskazerne in Ede hosted an information market regarding the draft decision for the Aardwarmte Ede exploration permit. The event was organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) and attracted over 150 interested residents, business owners, and other stakeholders.

During the information market, visitors were able to speak with representatives from the Ministry of EZK, the State Supervision of Mines (SodM), TNO โ€“ Geological Survey of the Netherlands, the municipality of Ede, and Aardwarmte Ede (a partnership between MPD Groene Energie, EBN, and Gaia Energy). At the various information stands, there was plenty of opportunity to ask questions about geological surveys, the permitting process, safety, the technology behind geothermal energy, and the next steps for the project.

The meeting provided space for open discussions and answers to a wide range of questions about the project. The high level of interest underscores the importance of maintaining a good dialogue with the local community. Gaia Energy looks back on a valuable evening, during which many visitors gained greater insight into the potential of geothermal energy and the steps required to ensure a carefully developed project.

The draft exploration permit is available for public review until August 13, 2026. During this period, stakeholders can view the permit documents and, if desired, submit their feedback. Gaia Energy will continue to actively keep the community informed about the progress of Aardwarmte Ede throughout the upcoming project phases.
