Gaia Energy completes transfer of Shell interest in Geothermal Delft

Gaia Energy has successfully completed the transfer of Shell Geothermal's shareholding in Geothermie Delft B.V. With this step, Gaia Energy takes over Shell's interest and continues its shareholding in the joint venture together with EBN and TU Delft. The transfer has no consequences for the board composition of Geothermal Delft.
Strengthening local cooperation
By joining as a shareholder, Gaia Energy underlines its commitment to the further development of sustainable heat supply for the TU Delft Campus and the city of Delft. The cooperation with the existing partners remains strongly focused on achieving a future-proof heat source for Delft.
Nico Kuipers, director of Gaia Energy:
“We are delighted with the acquisition of the Shell stake. We look back on a very pleasant cooperation with Shell and will continue to work with the other partners to make this project a success in delivering sustainable heat to the TU Campus and the city of Delft.”
Appreciation for cooperation with Shell
In recent years, Shell Geothermal has made an important contribution to the development of Geothermal Delft.
Jeroen van Duin, GM Shell Geothermal:
“I look back on an incredibly pleasant collaboration with the partners in Geothermal Delft, Netverder, Inwarmte, the housing associations and the municipality of Delft, and I am proud of what we have achieved together over the past six years. I am pleased that with the transfer to Gaia Energy as an existing partner, we have been able to ensure continuity for the project.”
Looking ahead
With this step, the development of Geothermal Delft remains firmly anchored in the region. The partners are continuing to work together on a sustainable heat source that contributes to the energy transition and to a future-proof heat network for Delft.
